Far Eastern Manufacturers at IFSEC 2009

It never ceases to amaze me just how many Far Eastern Manufacturers take booths and stands at IFSEC. There must be at least 100, with dedicated areas for Korea, China, Taiwan, etc. Most of the products that these stands promote are not readily available in the UK, the manufacturer is effectively attending to seek a UK distributor ...

Aimetis stand effective at IFSEC 2009

This stand was so effective. If you want a visitor's attention in order to introduce your product to them (especially as in this case CCTV software), then why not offer them a seat at a table and a drink. One Rep per table and an empty chair seemed inviting to me. Spaced tables kept the Reps apart (you would not believe the amount of stands where the Reps get engrossed in each other!). One monitor on the desk to focus on, and a large one on the back wall to throw GUI components onto just to show off that you can. It worked for me!

IFSEC 2009 Major Manufacturers

This year the IFSEC show was relocated into smaller halls at one end of the NEC complex. I would estimate that attendance was about 10-20% down on the Tuesday & Wednesday that I attended (my tenth year of attending). However, it was interesting to see that (despite some big names not attending) many manufacturers seem still to have recession-busting budgets to put together huge show stands!

Very popular and effective stand by ACTi. Their staff were so friendly and proactive that I wouldn't mind betting that they harvested more visitor details and created a better impression than any other manufacturer at the show.

Huge Fujinon Zoom Lens

The big square lump at the front is all lens. The smaller unit hanging off the back is the camera. You don't often see lenses of this size, you almost certainly can't afford one!!
