The 'Leonardesque' Canal
Originally a fishing village, and the centre of daily life is still the Port Canal built at the beginning of the 14th century.
At the beginning of the 16th century, the great Leonardo da Vinci was commissioned by Cesare Borgia, Duke Valentino, to improve the structure of the port and extend the length of the piers.
Today it teems with typical restaurants well-known for their seafood cuisine, and hosts the old boats with their colourful sails which belong to the Maritime Museum.
