Entrance to Nin, Croatia. We took a bus from Zadar to Nin. The history of Nin is fascinating; this tiny place was at the heart of Croatia (an archbishopric and royal residence) for some centuries, but abandoned and burned by the Venetians facing Turkish attack in 1646.

Tourists flock to Plitvice Lakes National Park, with good reason. The waterfalls are spectacular. Walkways, bus-trains, and boats carry tourists around the park.
