In May 2001 Dragons Abreast Australia competed in the national titles in Darwin. Members from Armidale, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Newcastle & Sydney made up the National team. They competed in the women's and master's races and at the end of the day held the inaugural AusDBF Dragons Abreast Division. Teams of eight women paddled to represent Northern Territory, New South Wales & Queensland / Australian Capital Territory. This was the culmination of a wonderful week for members of the team. Tremendous support was given to the Dragons Abreast members by all the paddlers and supporters present on the day resulting in an emotional experience to remember.
