This is the most gruesome, tragic place I have ever visited. Nearly 10,000 people were killed in this field in a deliberate, organized way by Pol Pot's regime in the late '70s. Though many of the dead have been excavated from mass graves and properly reintered, walking around the site one still finds human bones and the clothing of the victims who were buried (sometimes alive) in these shallow, mass graves. It is beyond comprehension.
