Multnomah Days

Zoe's preschool invited parents and kids to march in the Multnomah Days Parade, so Mike, Heather, and I all walked with the kiddo in her first parade. A lot of families represented, and it was great to meet other parents. I had forgotten how big the festival was, and it made me slightly miss the days we lived in the Village.

Once again, we participated in the Providence Bridge Pedal. This year, we were joined by Aunt Heather, Uncle Eddie, Sarah, Teresa, and Iris. We all had a good time, especially the girls who squished together in the trailer!

Bridge Pedal 2009

It was another year for the Bridge Pedal, but this was our first with Zoe along for the ride! We only did the 6-bridge route since we weren't sure how long she'd tolerate sitting in the Burley, but she was awesome! With all the people and a trailer full of snacks for her, she was a trooper! We also lucked out with great weather, not too hot and not too cold and no rain. What more could we ask for?

House Remodel

We are either brave or stupid. This summer we began an extensive remodel project which involves adding a master bedroom and bath, internal staircase to the basement, remodeling the kitchen/dining, adding a utility room, replacing the HVAC and plumbing, and giving a bit more space to Mike's workshop. Due to the nature of the architect's design, the only rooms left untouched are the bathroom and living room. Yes, we are staying in the house while all of this is going on.

Jay & Diana Wedding

We headed down to SF for Jay and Diana's wedding. It was a short trip, just for the weekend, but it was fun and beautiful time! We were so happy to see everyone at the wedding and for them to meet Zoe. We didn't get to meet up with all the CMU folk, but we did manage to spend an evening with Joanne and Paul!

House Remodel Before & After

After four months of living in a construction zone, our house remodel is nearly complete. The only thing left to finish is the exterior paint, which is when I took the "After" shots.

Baltimore & DC

We headed out east for a week to visit family and friends. We first stayed with the Patersons for a few days in Baltimore, and then headed down to DC to visit Aunt Mary and Uncle Don. We also got to see Albert, Rich and Minna, along with a few touristy attractions. Aside from the cold and wind, it was a great trip, and traveling with a baby wasn't as bad as I had prepared myself to be.

Pumpkin Festival

We spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the French Prairie Gardens in St. Paul, OR. We were there with our friends Billy and Becky and their son Riley. The adults and kids had fun with the hay maze, the corn maze, the slides, petting the animals, and especially the pig tucky derby!

Jason & Doris Wedding

We headed down to the Santa Monica Mountains for Jason and Doris' Wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and it was so great to see the old Tomo crew again. We also got to spend a bit of time at the Getty Villa and at the beach in Malibu. And we made it through the entire weekend as a twosome...not a threesome!

From Shanghai we took an overnight trip to nearby Suzhou where many classical Chinese gardens are located. The Portland Chinese Garden is based off of Suzhou-style gardens.

Shanghai 2007

My parents also took us to Shanghai. While the city offers much in the way of food, shopping, and just a more cosmopolitan lifestyle, I wouldn't recommend it for culture and history. However, the Shanghai Museum is awesome, and the Jade Buddha is also worth a visit.

Mike and I first stopped in Beijing. We went to see the Temple of Heaven, the Great Wall at BaDaLing, the Ming Tombs, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and Chinese Acrobats. Of course, we enjoyed good food everyday, including one of my favorite restaurants, Ding Tai Fung.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a busy holiday weekend. On Saturday we headed up to Seattle to spend the day with our friends Peter and Shanna, who were hiking in Olympic National Park earlier in the week and spent a couple of days in Seattle. We also took the long weekend to repaint our bedroom, in hopes that it will brighten the space up a bit for the upcoming winter months...
