This was not a good omen when travelling over on Thursday.
We finally managed to convince Max and Naomi to join us. Poor suckers!
The Ridgway; status unchanged.
Returning to the hotel after our meal we saw this; There was no chance we'd get up for an 08:00 start at the track. Good for sleep, bad for lapping.
Upon arriving to track at about 10:00 on Friday, this is the status. Snow. No lapping!
Grüne Hölle (Green Hell); I think not; Weiße Hölle (White Hell)
It's not going to happen, is it!? :)
Yay! Snow! Not!
The theme for the weekend.
RSR Nurburgs four wheeled rentals seemed mighty tempting all weekend.
The theme for the weekend No. 2.
Max did 1.5 laps in the growling 1.2l VW Polo. Only future will tell if he got addicted.
Dear friends; Tony & Clare....
... Erhm... Friends, Tony & Clare...
... erhm.... People... Tony & Clare...
"That'll be an extra fiddy quid, guv, you see, I'm in da van noow.."
The new sign telling you where there's accidents, and some other information. Sehr Gut!
They had stuck a guy in here without any sound dampening, he was talking about how to behave on the track. Sadly nobody will understand what he says with gurgling Porsche's next to the kiosk. Good idea though.
Ich bin Ein Ringmeister, ja!
Grill Haxe, Pils... it can only be Lindenhof! Yummy!
Apparently some guys that went on a "long trip" had been here before us.
Mr. Frozenbehindthearmco isn't happy with the shiyat weather; no money's coming in. Poor guy.
Again returning from the restaurant; Doesn't look like we'll head out for the 08:00 start... *sigh*
We love our landlady and landlord at our hotel, but we're not impressed with this insulting picture on the wall in a hotel in Nürburg. ;)
Another Espace status... bikes will stay in the van.
I got a bit arty-farty and patriotic here; Frenchy Max pointed out that it was actually mostly farty... What are friends for.
The original layout of the track where Start und Ziel was common with the Nord- and Südschleife.
We finally (after 7 years) found our way up to Adenauer Forst; being there explains why so little braking is needed. It's steep up hill! :)
The bikes will stay in the cars, at least for now.
Keith Maddock-Bend was back! :)
In a PT Cruiser with 230bhp... and a slight thirst. Well, it's american after all. :)
This poor chap was left naked in the back of an M3... poor chap.
It looked like our hotel room had a peeping tom...! Just look at that ice-cold stare... Scary!
The only brave (mentally damaged?) souls out on two wheels were Tony... and...
... Kim with standard equpment pillion passenger...
Oh, the salty pretzels, the pretzels!
Keith returning from a lap with Max. Notice the white tarmac; from the salt.
Porsche GT3 exhaust... white from the salt.
As is the badge. *shrug* I'd hate to do washing to get this one into pristine condition.
These lads got noise tested; one 99.7dB, the other one 105.xdB (memory is a bit fuzzy)... 100dB is strict limit.
I got a lap in the PT Cruiser and I must admit I was mighty impressed. Goes well once it's not in too much of an aggressive corner.
You see all sorts of vehicles at the 'Ring; This is a Honda Silverwing super scooter, on UK plates, with a tow-bar! Good going!
Nice car, nicer reg plate...
A lap in the VW Transporter (a.k.a Transponder)...
We were following Tony on the DRZ400SM. Nice lap! Notice the white tarmac from the salt. Yuck!
Whooops... new pink stripes on a nice white BMW... it happens so quickly.
We went for a walk around Hohe Act, Caz looks suitably knackered.
The locals on the other hand went tobogganing; wonder what they think about the stupid tourists trying to do as many laps as possible.
It's the van-man again!
Chris & Geza were out on four wheels.
There's that van-man AGAIN!
Impressive to see the new Skyline out there. Massive sound! :)
New Skyline again. :)
There's that van-man AGAIN!!!!
We went for a walk down Steilstrecke; Caz decided legs aren't good enough for 33% decline.
Down there's the track...
Steve in the M3 CSL
Compare the speed difference of the M3 CSL to the previous pic. :)
Another pic of Steve and the M3 CSL
We did two laps in the vans; The Red one vs. The Black one. Red one is leading due to shortcutting over the kerbs.
Get the kerbs, Tony!
Kerbs, kerbs!
Steve's M3 CSL; all filthy from the action. It's for driving, not posing.
No, the exhausts isn't ceramic coated; they're salt coated.
On our way home; starting the Espace (it's got an electrical leak, which in turn has killed the battery).
CLEEEAR; ZAP!!
The forrests looked nice on the way home, and the windmills are peeking through between the trees.
More wind mills. Lovely!
The "Highway to Hell" (the bumpy road outside of Eupen) was a bit less hellish thanks to the white trees.
