The Connies are modified by Beaudry Motors and feature a tighter turning radius and custom law enforcement equipment including an adjustable speedometer, a second wiring harness with 12 fused circuits, and a separate accessory battery. Costing between $16,000 and $22,000 per unit, the Concours 14 ABS claims an initial acquisition cost that's $2,000 less than comparable BMWs and Harleys, as well as a complete clutch replacement cost that's $400 cheaper than the German and American competition. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is proud to be hosting the 12th annual Southwest Police Motorcycle Training and Competition. The event is an opportunity for motor officers to compete and share training ideas. The competition is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Nevada. This event will be held at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino on April 4th and 5th, 2008. The Suncoast Hotel, 9090 Alta Drive, LV, NV 89145, will be the location for the competition, banquet and lodging. There will be 8 hours of practice on Friday and competition will be Saturday. The competition is a timed course and will consist of several exercises with penalties assessed for touching cones, knocking over cones, touching a foot down, etc. There will also be a team event, a pair ride and slow ride competition. The Post Falls Police Department unveiled new motorcycles this season, replacing the 2001 models currently on the street. The Motor Division was added to the police department in 1996. At that time two 1989 Kawasaki KZ1000s were utilized by the department's two motor officers. The 1989 models were then replaced in 2001 with new Kawasaki KZ1000s. Starting this summer officers began patrolling the city streets on two new 2010 Kawasaki Concours 14s. These specialized police motorcycles are new to the Kawasaki line and were purchased through BMS Motorsports in Post Falls. They feature Advanced Traction Control, high performance ABS braking systems, retractable windshields that can be adjusted to officer preference, and increased payload capacity to handle added equipment. Both new motorcycles have been equipped with E-Cite capability, C19 “Toughbook” computers in the trunks, and blue tooth printers. The new2009, BMW R 1200 RT-P features a completely new LED emergency lighting concept developed by BMW and Code 3 PSE. The new system combines all currently designed emergency lighting into optimally focused compact LED light modules. These modules accommodate an additional 45 degree front LED module that blankets the front quadrants in emergency light. Together with an integrated wiring harness and programmable flash control module, the new system can provide any current flashing sequence/switching combination through settings on the programmable flasher.
