On the tour
Outdoor shower for the Kaufmanns
Designed to fit in with nature.

Very cool chairs
Mr. Kaufmann
Ambient lighting throughout the house. Untreated Muslin and Walnut made the "lamps".
Fireplace in the main living room. Note the red pot which swings around to heat liquids of choice (mulled wine according to the guide).
Note the boulder that became part of the floor.
This glass opened up to reveal stairs down to the water (see the next picture).
These stairs lead down to the river, just above the first of the two waterfalls.
The boulder at the lower right is the same boulder that you saw in front of the main living room fireplace.
View looking down on the upper falls from one of the balconies.
Guest bedroom (only room in the house without a fireplace)
Tiffany sculpture
Still the guest bedroom - also the only room in the house that has blinds.
Mrs. Kaufmann's bedroom. Each family member had their own room and balcony.
Mrs. Kaufmann's bathroom vanity.
Mrs. Kaufmann's Balony.
All of the red in the house is Pittsburgh Steel.
Mr. Kaufmann's room. Note the vents in the back to mask the radiator.
The desk was cut out to leave room for the window to open.
These corner windows open up to make the corner "disappear". Opening them provides an amazing acoustic accompaniment from the falls.
The window glass was inserted directly in the walls to blend the inside with the outside.
Many of the Japanese prints were donated by Frank Lloyd Wright himself.
Door out to Mr. Kaufmann's balcony.
Stairs up to the 3rd floor which belonged to "junior" - the Kaufmann's only son.
Now on the 3rd floor, Juniors rooms.
The red on top is a slab of Iron Oxide found on the property.
Junior was an avid reader
Random sculpture on Junior's balcony.
Herb garden. Used in cooking, Jr. would bring down fresh cuttings daily before going on his walks.
Mrs. Kaufmann.
Hallway leading to the Guest House stairs.
Headed up the stairs to the guest house
Same design used in Taliesin West studio. Flame detail only visible from certain angles.
Inside the guest house
Another of the many Tiffany pieces throughout the house.
This looks like a mirror image but it's not. Frank designed this doorway and the cabinets on each side to mirror each other
The guest house had it's own pool
Headed down the long driveway from the guest house to the main house
That's all folks
