On Friday I flew the Aiken rental Cherokee 1.1 hours.

This was his Dad's car.
Roger Rucker and his friend came by.
Another early delivery by Oswald Lumber, the 42 foot laminated headers for the door.
The Lull was to be deliverd at 9:00. He was exactly on time.
Unfortunately the trusses were coming from New Holland. They were supposed to come in the morning. Then it was noon. Delay after delay. We thought we would see them come down I-20 when promised finally at 3:00.
3:20 was a late start
The Lull was over $300 per day.
Trent said the 42 foot truss was an eighth of an inch too long. He asked James if the plan was to leave it all on one end or split the difference.
Lots of nails shot with the gun.
They glued and bolted the two laminated beams together.
The insulation guru wanted to check out the job.
Sandy made BLT's when they quit at 8:30. The offer was a Bud Light or ice tea.

He uses a nail set to drive them suckers home.
Larry, Don & Joe came to see our progress.
Randy was flying over so Larry asked him for a low pass.
They are standing on the west end of Pond Branch Airfield. Picture zoomed in from down the hill.
Joe liked my scooter. This is the side porch of Command Central at the Center of the Universe. Bullet is ready for action.

The insulation was delivered about 1:00.
Sandy & I got 4 take out plates from Shealy's and the 6 of us buffet style had lunch. This just after.

Our Mom's '93 Blazer turning 50,000 miles on the way to Springfield. Mom is helping me finance the hanger is the connection here.
Mom's Blazer at the Springfield office. I couldn't help but check out the Springfield stage / shed in the background.

James, Willie, & concrete guru Tom arrived @ 7:00AM. They shaved off enough clay for 4 inches of concrete.
The 10 mil poly is a vapor barrier to keep the concrete dry.
Trent & Hayward arrived just after daylight too.
The County Inspector gave us the high sign @ 9:39.
James went for a few more pieces of reinforcement wire.

12:15, no truck yet. I left to get the powered trowel from the rental shop.
Trent, Willie, Tom, Hayward, & James.
Tom waiting, wall insulation on the left.
James called that the truck wouldn't fit under the header. They needed another wheel barrow. I went by Ace and arrived back at 1:15.
Actually the truck would go under the header full but would grow in height as the concrete was delivered.
My light duty 20 + year old model couldn't handle the strain.
The vapor barrier was holding all the water it could.
The second truck was even taller but the chute reached where it needed to go. The next two are videos with no audio ($40 camera).
Trent said he felt like he had on "Moon Boots".
I went to Leesville to get the payroll and when I got back at 3:30 they were finishing up. They got all they needed from the second truck. No third truck necessary.
Tom, and only Tom, ran the powered trowel until dark. This @ 3:30
James with shoes.
Don Bledsoe's Cessna did a couple passes down PBA. I came out of the house just at the right time to see it go by on the last pass. We tune out the trucks on I-20 which are much louder that the Cessna 125 HP.
James without shoes.

This machine sliced the ground and buried the line to the Security Lights.
For the service to the meter...
They said it was easier to cut em and fix em than to spend a bunch of time digging with a shovel. They did the fixing with their stuff!!!
Maybe somebody can explain why this truck turned right from the work area. Then he did a U turn and left me with these speed bumps right in the middle of the runway. Hopefully a few hard rains will smooth them out.
Does it look straight to you?
We pulled the airplane back up the hill after the power lines were buried.
The lights came on @ 7:19 and was on just over 12 hours.

Lee got up the conduit for the recepticles on every other post.
We got 2 1/2 inches of rain. Billy & Debbie came by.
Lee and his assistants second day got up the 18 four foot lights.
Test with the drop cord. They dropped a couple tubes and had to go to the store to replace them.
Trent's son John
Finishing third side. John picking up nails.
Fifty degrees so I lit a fire for James & Trent to report to this morning.
John demonstating a short field landing in high wind hit hard and broke the nose gear.

This is Friday the November Thirteenth grass removal.
They are preparing for a 30 x 30 concrete pad
His loads are about 12 tons.
They decided the 4 inches of rain we've had in the last few days had it too wet to work.
Grass and top soil in the front of the picture and first load of clay for the pad in front of the hanger.
The door is here.
I covered the clay with painter's plastic so we didn't have to work in the mud. It had just rained.
The old man, we don't know his name.
Billy came by on his BMW.
It might have not been the right way, but it worked for us.
Keath Toney and his friend came by to get some firewood. But not too much.
First put in some lag bolts to hold it in place. Big cheater...
We filled the lull with diesel and turned it in.
What a Saturday. All day...
First time for everything!!! Doug noticed what we had over the walk in door.
10 feet and 10 inches. The jet should fit under this.
Drive and limit switch
Automatic latching mechanism. As the door gets to the hanging position this cable pulls down the latch arms.
Latch arm coming down in the out position.
Cable pulls arm in against latch and secures door.
Doug said this looked like an Amish Hex Sign of Friendship. Mom made it when she was in to cutting out stuff with the band saw.
This is an action shot.
Cropped from # 407
We got the 1950 Cessna for my 60th birthday in April 2010.
