"First off, I am a great fan of SFX and I have used it often. Unfortunately, in my own enthusiam for the programme, I have often overcooked things... And I think this is what happened here.

I suspect you set the contrast a little too high, which caused the "blown out highlights". Sturcture is maybe a little too high also, making the image look a little HDRish. Now, nothing wrong with HDR, but you have to ask if it fits your "bygone era"-look.

Lastly, and this is purely my opinion, but I think "sepia trains" is a little clitche. Sure, when the original films of these wonderful machines were made it was all sepia... But does that mean that you need to make your image sepia in order to convey "age" or "antiqueness"? I am not sure what the colour version looks like, but a faded or vintage colour version might just be as effective."

If anything, looking back on your other work, I'd say use the HDR BW convert of Eiffel Tower as a guide for this mono - that's an example of one nicely done and very delicate - SFX just needs to be handled with care :)"
