Troy out for a morning spin
They told me to redo my number. Sexy look, eh? (I didn't notice him taking the photo)
Quiet contemplation before the storm
'Maybe I'll just drop all these guys...'
Morning glow
A casual start. (the Whole Wheel Velo Club guy - in red - subsequently struck his pedal in a turn, hopped his rear wheel out sideways, and blew his tire... but kept upright and thus didn't take us all down - well done)
The guy in the blue jersey on the right went on to become my partner in crime up the road.
Up to no good off the front. This attempt didn't stick. It's hard to see, but I'm smiling for the camera - obviously not trying hard enough.
On Dennis' wheel
Troy moving up
I think this is the same NCVC junior who is in like every race, it seems. He had some fly uni-lens shades this time.
Too hot for this exposure.
Duck?
Rapidity
I hope I'm still on the bike at that age.
Lanky fellow
Keeping it lively
The rest of the field is nowhere in sight
Attempts at capture prove futile
Troy keeps things mellow back in the peloton
Woman is completely oblivious
Big gap on the field
Taking the turns tightly
Still up the road
Troy works the field
Good for second.
And a second-place salute rather than a victory salute, but I'm well pleased.
A good ride. And the house in the background is lived in by a guy I hung out with in middle school. He's obviously done well for himself.
The sprint for 3rd
Sprint for 4th?
Troy and Dennis go for the line - good for 8th and 9th, respectively!
Troy edges out Dennis
Bike Rack & Friends
Today a box of Apple Pie-flavored Clif Shots, tomorrow the TdF yellow jersey... Or at least maybe some socks or a cash prize to cover entry fee & fuel... Troy - I'll hook you up with a handful for your efforts.
