This is where the "fest" actually takes place. It was a full "house" with no seats available. Only two selections of meat where available a Grilled Pork Steak or a Grillwurst (which is basically a really large hot dog). Lot's of choices of cake were available, as was coffee, wine, beer, and several soft drinks. The weather was gorgeous, so it was a perfect day for this. The closest town is a couple of kilometers away, with Kandern being about a 5km hike over a couple of hills. Had Thad been in town (he's in Thailand right now), we would have hiked our way there. But, I didn't feel like venturing the forrest paths on my own, so I caught a ride there and back.
Hiking back to the cars...
Every where I looked, I saw amazingly beautiful things.
Seriously, how can I describe this? An amazing reward for finishing my project yesterday.
We turned left on this trail, but I would love to go back and see where this way goes.
I think this is called Raps or Rapps, something like that.
I think this was a cherry tree, but I'm not really sure. Either way, it's beautiful.
I definitely will remember this little spot. A blanket, a little food and drink, and a couple of books. Thad and I will have a wonderful Sunday afternoon rest when he returns.
Most of the trees with the white blossoms are cherry trees. I think Anna said that there are over a thousand cherry trees in the Eggertal valley (which is the neighboring valley to Kandern).
What a day.
