2011 February Battle of the Bands

These pictures were taken at a festival which was co-organized by Wouter as part of his school-work. A number of bands of Bali and Lombok coming together to battle it out for the first prize. The one and a half hour cut of electricity and the rain caused some delays but after that it was a nice exiting evening with lots of music, see some of the movies of this event on You Tube!

2010 Pulau Weh - Sabang*

In Oktober zijn we naae Pulau Weh geweest waar het voornaamste plaatsje Sabang heet. Dit is bereikbaar met een ferry uit Banda Aceh en is het meest westelijke punt van Indonesie. Prachtige stranden en helder water zijn de voornaamste attraktie en voor nationalistische Indonesiers is dat westelijke punt de attraktie, het heet dan het 0 punt. Merauke is het meest oostelijke punt, maar daar waren we al geweest zie de fotoo's in het Merauke album. De fotoo's in dit album zijn (vooral de meer kunstzinnige fotoo's) door Wouter gemaakt

Een van de uitstapjes die Endang en ik maakte was naar Klungkung dat tegenwoordig ook wel Semarapura heet (het district heet nog steeds Klungkung). Hier woonden voorname en invloedrijke Balinese edelen. Verder foto's van ons uitstapje naar Besakih de belangrijkste tempel op Bali aan de voet van de hoogste berg op Bali de Mount Agung

In 2010 werkte ik nog steeds in de drinkwater in Aceh. Het hele jaar werkte ik drie weken per maand (een week in Bali) in Aceh en woonde dan in een hotel in Banda Aceh. Deze foto's heb ik genomen tijdens die weken in Banda en verder in Aceh.

In January Endang and myself went to the Gili Islands for three days. These are islands before the coast of Lombok and you can reach them with a speedboat from Bali. On the islands there is no motorized traffic, so it is really peaceful.

In November 2008 the H2O project where I worked started to build it's own office and training/lab facility in Aceh. I selected a site and organized the design and tendering. 2008 kopi-luwak *

IN Medan we started a Kopi Luwak experiment, where we kept musangs or luwaks in a cage and fed them with red coffee beans to get natural fermented beans which we then roasted to become kopi luwak. Endang did most of the work and when we moved from Medan in 2009 we gave the whole business away to a polish man who wanted to try it also

The idea was that with Endang still not completely recovered from her tbc, we could have a house around the corner, everything did not work out that way as the office moved to town and eventually we just staid in that house for 1 year. But the house was sooooo big and sooooo chinese nouveau riche, amazing!!!!
