Imelda May Rock “n” Rolled (or maybe that should be "Rockabilly-ed"!) Dublin's Olympia Theatre last night with special guests Sharon Corr and Mary Black and to thunderous applause, Eamonn from The Dubliners played a mad cap sing-a-long version of “Dirty oldTown”. Being close to Christmas the gig ended with a wonderful “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas”. A fabulous gig for December 2010
Born in Dublin and raised in the Liberties, Imelda May & her band, play (a fusion of surf guitars, blues and rockabilly) she has a terrific vocal delivery and a unique style, with a solitary curl and shock of blonde in her jet black hair. Her big break came on Jools Holland’s much loved BBC “Later with Jools Holland”, she has shared a stage with U2, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Scissor Sisters, Lionel Richie ,& the first lady of rockabilly, Wanda Jackson.
