Last rites of "Pujya pitricharanaahaa" Stuart Davies @ St. Louis, USA
Three of my siblings and I journeyed to St. Louis, USA, to where my father, Stuart Davies, remains were brought for tissue donation. My younger brother Larry and I attended the actual cremation (but stayed only for the beginning). My brother and I garlanded his remains with "prasad" flower garlands from ISKCON St. Louis. Then I chanted the "shanti paath", other mantras, the Hare Krishna mahamantra and the Ishopanishad. I sprinkled Gangajal on his remains, poured some with a tulasi leaf into the mouth of the remains, and poured ghee on the body, as per ancient vedic tradition. Then my brother and I pushed the remains into the cremation oven, thus consummating the last rites. Portions of his ashes are being sent to both Chicago and Los Angeles, from where I will take one portion to "holy Bhaarata" (India) for immersion into a "holy river" (exact river/location to be decided).
