2010 White Coat Ceremony
The School of Medicine Class of 2014 was officially welcomed to UVA and the profession of medicine at the 14th annual White Coat Ceremony, presented in full by the Medical Alumni Association. The ceremony opened with a procession of several faculty members, including Dean and Vice President Steven T. DeKosky, MD, and Deans of the four colleges. Several speakers addressed the audience of over 400 family members and the 155 students. Each new student was then presented with a personally embroidered white coat. Faculty members Meg Keeley, MD (’92), John Densmore, MD, PhD (’95), and Susan Pollart, MD (’82) presented the coats along with alumnus Lydia Johnson, MD, member of the Class of 1997. Alumni Warren Horn, MD (’77) and Fraser Henderson, MD (’82) presented coats to their sons, and faculty member Terrance Yemen, MD, placed the coat on his son Sean. To conclude the ceremony, the Class of 2014 and all faculty members recited the Covenant for the Entering Class and their Teachers.
