Lithuanian competitor Donatas Pauzuolis provided great entertainment with his mid-fuselaged variable-pitch propeller aircraft, enabling him do perform the most amazing stunts. He is also a manufacturer of indoor aircraft and very appropriately, the name of his enterprise is Donuts Models!

On many occasions he told high-ranking officials that the aeromodelling events far outclassed the media and spectator appeal of the other airsports.

Hand Throw Glider group of Southern Africans: Mark Stockton, Stephane Duponsel, and Michael Stern (ex Zimbabwe). Michael launched for injured Massimiliano Sacchi (pronounced “sakkie”) who won the F6D class. South Africa can be justly proud of Alan Smith, who battled for 11 rounds to emerge second, for the FAI Silver Medal. Not since 1979, was a South African able to win an aeromodelling silver medal. Well, done, Alan!
