featuring a site-specific sculptural installation by Jesse Kaminsky and Dirk Adams Saturday, 01-19-2008 | 6pm-aamm Sponsored by Grolsch The sculptural installation, Anoxia, is a one-room environment made of cardboard, balloons, string, LEDs and a three channel sound collage. The visual elements interact with each other sonically, and activate the space similarly to a live performance. As a temporary installation, the sculptures will live for only one night. Envisioned by Jesse Kaminsky and Dirk Adams, Anoxia, meaning "without oxygen", refers to a condition of oxygen deprivation that affects both humans and bodies of water alike.

The work in Fourth Wall: the documentaries unfold variations of the familiar documentary in unconventional ways. Their storytelling is symbolic, rich in both aestheticized lore and narrative fantasy. Contributing artists include: Duke and Battersby, Atefeh Kademolreza (Iran), Catherine Czacki, Larry Shao (Taiwan), Jenn Stark, Dagie Brundert (Germany), Nathaniel Stern (South Africa), Keveh Ghareman (Iran) and Ben Russell.

Delicate Tension

Delicate Tension is a photographic series that combines several elements. One of these is a group of slides from a Steeplechase horse race in the 1970's and another is a mural created as part of a video animation. Together, they formed intensely colorful combinations that could only be softened by blurring edges and dulling details. Only small portions of each slide's realistic integrity remain, disarming expectations in favor of compositional tensions and delicate erosions.

CCTV installation, by Ken Avery and Andrew Shea; for Once Walls

this installation was set up to capture real time footage of people interacting with a wall covered in pieces of felt that were roughly configured to resemble tetras. As this interaction took place, the footage was layered with other imagery that together created new compositions on a monitor that was positioned 15' directly to the left of the wall as people moved in front of the camera.

Studies in Fluid Mechanics

The project involved teaching MIT community members how to transfer 8mm film (in this case, scientific films that have to do with fluid mechanics) to digital format and how to digitally edit the film using Final Cut Pro. Nine people made films, all of which were projected on the inside of MIT's "Great Dome" (building 10-500). The artists include: Sands Fish, Nikolaus Gulacsik Kathy Hamilton, Stephanie Houston, Chun-Yue Ivy Lee, Georgina Lewis, Andres Lombana, Thery Mislick and Andrew Shea
