On the meditation train to Igatpuri
with LOVELY curtains
my prissy feet resting up against Shumona's bag
meditation toilet
why have they left these strewn along the tracks?
DAY 0: My new friends Shumona and Ian
The "campus" at Igatpuri
DAY 10: picking up passports
my cell
fellow meditators
The Pagota, with individual meditation cells (not for sleeping) in front. Don't they look like those green one eyed things in Toy Story that chanted "The Claw is our master...oooooooooh."?
DAY 10: getting ready to go
my new friend Dhanajay. We bonded over being annoyed by the constant sounds of burping and farting in the hall.
In line at the cafeteria
we always left our shoes outside
in the small Dhamma Hall for the English discourse on DVD
Dhanajay's room was nicer than mine, he had an attached shower. We think it was because he said on the registration form that he had a profession, while I put "none"
DAY 11: on the train back to Bombay with Shumona and Dhanajay
not my best angle
out the grubby window
meditation train in reverse
arriving at the station...
Shumona wonders, "What the hell did I pay this guy 50 rupees for to haul my bag if it has wheels?!"
going to the crafts fair in Bombay with Rittu, Vidhart and Anya
Vidhart, Rittu holding Anya
Vidhart was quite taken with the wrtiting on rice and implored me to get one, so I did.
Given our close call with theft, I had them write....
"Better watch your back"
leaving the fair
next day in Bandra
walking along the Carter Road Promenade
Carter Road Promenade
with my new friend Jaume, who runs an NGO in Bombay
me and Jaume
the sunset
Later we stop in an internet cafe
Jaume shows me his cool apartment, I can't get over how inexpensive it is. In Bombay is is all about location. If you can live in a less popular area, you can have a really nice place for very little.
