Sunman petroglyph; Deming NM; Winter Solstice
Photo documentation of a trek to visit a New Mexican petroglyph locals refer to as the Sun Man. The visit was at midday on December 26. We arrived to catch the shadow of overhanging rock leaving the the face of the figure. It appeared to exit the figure coinciding with the vertical lines of the figure. The time stamp on the photos is correct to the minute, but the hour stamp is two hours ahead of local time. Photos were not taken from a tripod; thus, the angle and postition of the petroglyph differ slightly in the photos.
