We weren't allowed into Dolly Sods the day we arrived (Thursday) because SAR was looking for a lost person in the area. So we stayed at the nearby state park.
This was his first backpacking trip. About 4 weeks before he turned 4yo.
We hiked up to the lodge at the SP. This was taken "out back".
Friday morning we arrive at the trailhead. They (LtoR: 7yo, 4yo, 10yo) look so excited.
Views like this were everywhere.
Sometimes it is tough to get him to smile for the camera.
Along Bear Rocks Trail

Friday around dinner we had a bit of rain, this rainbow followed. While we were taking pictures a small black bear ambled down the hill behind our site. He ran as soon as he saw us.
Along the western ridge looking over Canaan Valley.
I think the SP we stayed at the first night is down there somewhere.
This is back on Bear Rocks Trail on Saturday afternoon.
Near the top of the peak (looking NE) just east from the Bear Rocks Trail--Red Creek Trail junction.
