Trip to Mt. Rainier
Friends and Family, the following slideshow details my trip along with Eric Ash to Mt. Rainier National Park and our summitting of Mt. Rainier, an adventure I will never forget.
Day 1, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, we hiked to Comet Falls then to Mildred Point.
Day 2, Thursday, Aug. 7th, we joined the Summit for Someone group for our on the mountain training to provide us with the basic skills needed to reach the summit, including proper use of crampons, ice ax, and roping techniques.
Day 3, Friday, Aug. 8th, we began our push for the summit. We hiked from the trailhead at Paradise (6,000ft) to Camp Muir (10,000ft), where we relaxed and slept for a few hours.
Day 4, Saturday, Aug. 9th, we began our push for the summit at 2am, pitch black, under head-lamp with crampons and ice ax, roped to a guide, and with howling winds. We summitted (14,410ft) at roughly 11am. Six of the nine climbers in our group summitted, but no shame in turning back. The weather was miserable: win
