AIA ATL 2012 - McCamish Pavilion
The AMC Replacement Facility project is a major renovation of the existing 9,000 seat Alexander Memorial Coliseum (GT Basketball Complex) to be renamed the Henry F. McCamish Jr. Arena. The renovated facility will provide for a state-of-the-art collegiate basketball playing and viewing venue. The renovation will consist of a 30,000 SF concourse expansion with upgraded concessions, bathrooms, a team apparel store, and other amenities. The seating bowl will be entirely reconfigured to provide better site-lines, wider seats, more leg room, code compliant aisles, risers, and treads (which are currently not code compliant), as well as an additional 10,000 SF of new space under the seating bowl. This space will be used as team meeting rooms and bathrooms for both GT and the visiting team, officials locker rooms, and house some much needed storage for GT’s basketball operations. An upper deck of seats (approx 2,000 seats) will be added as well.
