The awesome roads of JNPT
Breakfast halt at our regular spot
Roads from Mahad towards Pali
Thats Sarasgad on the way
Beautiful roads towards Pachapur
Off the diversion at Pachapur towards Sudhagad
Thats the beauty we have to trek
Base Village- Thakurwadi, Pachapur
Way towards Sudhagad through the village
First aerial shot of the landscape
Nilesh making his way up
A short nap on the rocks
Well facilitated for an easy trek
The new stairs
The best ladder you can get on any fort
At least compared to what people used earlier
Nice isnt it? But somehow takes the thrill away ;)
Valley gazing
Greenery all round
Thats takmak tok....
Those sticks just help you psychologically...not a bad idea though
Incy Wincy Spider
Making his way up
The first entrance
Way up the fort
He was quick to get up there
And here's the latecomer
Nilesh's foggy walk
Starts to get dense
Takmak tok with cloud company
Very less rains...or that river down there would have been gushing
Hiding the peaks
Its vast up there...no doubt it was recommended to Shivaji Maharaj as a Capital
Wish I had a better cam.....the pic just doesnt show the real beauty
Takmaktok again....now a bit clear
The lake atop...I guess the water is potable...tasted good enough.
Laadu relaxing at the lake
..and me cooling my heels
Fishes fighting for a piece of biscuit
Another peak in the distance
Belongs to a family who stays on the fort
Start of the Wada
Still standing strong
The window
And a view through it
Wada ruins
A small one with a Lord Ganesh temple in the closet
Ganpati Bappa Morya!
The Sarkar Wada (nice place for an overnight stay)
Huge space inside...best part- didnt come across any mosquitoes
Another side of the Wada
Didnt go up to see
Huge isnt it?
Lord Shiva Temple
Shivalinga
And a few other Gods
Way towards the Daarukothaar (Arms & Ammunition Storage)
Lake?? Its an olympic sized swimming pool for the buffaloes
The Daarukothaar (Arms & Ammunition Storage)
Creepers everywhere...once upon a time would have been loaded with ammunition
Couldn't get inside this one...a huge cactus was blocking the way
The beautiful hills on the other side...huge monkeys here- but all scampered away before i could click.
Nilesh enjoys watching the babes bath ;)
A small temple
Not sure which God.
Path towards the Bhoraidevi Temple
The Bhoraidevi temple (The Goddess of the Bhor Range of Hills)
The Pillar outside the temple
Thankfully they're still here
Some more
Ruins of the samadhis...there were lots of them everywhere
Lord Hanuman temple
Making our way towards the Mahadarwaja
Awesome....this path is actually carved in the rocks
The Mahadarwaja....its a replica of the one you have at Raigad Fort
This path comes up from Village Dhondse
The view through the Darwaja
Another click from the top....at one point of time, there would have been Sainiks guarding this place..feel lucky to be here.
The twins in the distance
Clouds playing with the range
They come and they disappear
Way towards Takmak Tok
Getting closer...the green patch was all slippery, only the small section you see at the edge is where you can stand
View from the edge of Takmak Tok...Breath-taking isnt it?
I could get more close...my legs started shivering ;) Was all alone...Nilesh wasnt willing to come here...
See that edge...I was right there ;)
Another view of the valley
The view of the village side
The Chor Darwaza
And me in it....came scampering out....bats went flying sensing me there...thankfully they went out through the other side :P.....Bats....eeeeeeeeek!
Thats the exit of the Chor Darwaza....Didnt go through it...had no idea where it exited...and didnt find any opening from the outside..Can you see some creature on the left top corner...that looked yucky...it wasnt a bat, lizard or a rat...me confused what was it.
Breakfast at Pali marked the end of the trip.
