Ascending Khandala
I love this section...cool and calm
After crossing Nasrapur
Rajgad in the distance
Up-close
Start of the trek from Gunjavne Village. Started the trek at sharp 1 in the noon..the hot sun was too much to bear
There stands the King of Forts
At least here you have tree shades..return was terrible..I was falling on every second step here in dark
Try spotting Sinhagad
The zig-zag path
Its a lovely walk
Would be quite a task to trek in rains
Thankfully you have these railings for support
A group making their way down
Lovely vertical climb...if for the absence of those railings, your heartbeat rate would have been much faster
Dragging their way down
Thats the Chor Darwaza
The stairs from the Chor Darwaza leading to the fort
An inside shot
Stairs leading towards Padmavati Machi
Place for overnight stays
And people forget to clean up their own mess
The Padmavati Talao
Samadhi of Sayeebai- the first wife of Shivaji Maharaj
The Padmavati temple- place of an overnight halt.
Guess thats way down from Pali Darwaza
Thats Torna Fort
Bale Killa
Ambarkhana
Sadar (Meeting Hall)
Talghar (underground room). its right beneath the Sadar
The room underneath
One of the entrances towards Suvela Machi
Water cistern on the way to Gunjanvan Darwaza
Was a bushy path...only worry was a snake encounter
And there it is...looks haunted doesn't it?
The second entrance near Gunjanvan Darwaza
Stairs leading down to Gunjanvan Darwaza
An outside shot
And thats Gunjanvan Darwaza
The alternative path to Gunjavne village...seems quite difficult though
Me posing at the inner entrance
How can Hanumanji be absent on any fort?
Chilkhati Buruj
It just goes on and on.
The Bhatgar River (the [pic doesn't do justice to the beauty of this place)
Small passage leading right to the end of the fort
Thats where you'll land if you slip off the path..quite impossible though
Never saw an earthworm so big
The climb leading up to Bale Killa
People making their way down from Bale Killa
Thats Mahadarwaza of Bale Killa
Keeps you excited all he way
Thats the Mahadarwaza
A small ceremony organised by a group of trekkers from Pune
Thats Gunjanvan Darwaza down below
View of Suvela Machi from Bale Killa
Descending towards the Mahadarwaza
Water cistern atop Bale Killa
The sun sets in the distance
The results of returning in dark and not carrying a torch :'(
But whatever..in the end its JAI SHIVAJI, JAI MAHARASHTRA :) (Pic courtesy: www.ultimatespot.wordpress.com)
