Early morning sunrise at the Boulder Reservoir. JV and I drove in around 6:20am to look for Bill who had gotten there an hour earlier to get ready for his first triathlon.
Bikes in the transition area!
Athletes warming up in the water before the race started. The 1.2 mile swim course went straight into the sun for about half a mile before busting out a U shape and heading back into the shore to the left of this photo.
The pink caps wave gets ready to start. Waves started every 5 minutes. Bill was in the sixth wave.
Bill and JV posing on the shoreline before Bill gets ready to head out.
Warming up in the kiddy pool. Lots of urine in there and possibly a dooker considering the look on that guy's face and positioning of his arms.
It was a perfect morning for the triathlon. Light cloud cover in the morning kept things cool.
Athletes exiting the swim.
There's Bill! His 1.2 mile swim time was 39:20. I would have died.
Bill working on getting his wetsuit off while running up the hill.
I was a bit slow on the shutter with this shot. B starting off on the ~57 mile bike ride.
Look the hell out for that bump, Bill!
Bill's cycling leg was 2:38:23. Now he sets off on loop one of the half marathon run.
One loop down, one to go.
On the final stretch! The sun came back out during the second loop of the run making for some rough heat.
...and into the finish. Bill's wave started 30 minutes after the counter there. His finish time was 5:17:17.
Place 234. Dig it.
