The whole Akutan airport can be seen in this photo. That's because the airport is just a RAMP OUT OF THE WATER. 'The Goose' lands on the water, rolls onto land, and then you have to unload your baggage. On the upside, no waiting in security lines.
This is the trawl alley of the F/V Arctic Wind, which I spent most of my spring cruise on. The net you see can hold up to 140 tons of pollock.
Two of the guys on the Arctic Wind. On the left, Engineer Scott Erikson. He's the youngest of ten, and most of them are fishermen. He's awesome. On the right, Grayson, my roommate. Nice guy. Obsessed with CSI and self-help videos.
SHARKS. The bottom one is a salmon shark, the top one is a sleeper shark.

Dutch Harbor post-hurricane. Compare this to the snowy pictures. All the snow that was there got washed out, creating landslides that destroyed large swathes of the town, even pushing one building ONTO THE DECK OF A BOAT.

The Arctic Wind is the one on the left. It's not that big.
