AZ Superstitions

Mike and I spent three great days hiking and climbing in the superstition mountains by Phoenix and hiking Camelback (a Phoenix classic). Weavers Needle is a low 5th class rock climb with an awesome approach up the Peralta trail. We climbed it, then the following day we hiked from one end of the Superstitions to the other, about 12 miles with 4k feet of elevation. The trail is not maintained, but there are plenty of cairns and it is hard to lose. Good times!

Engineer Mountain

Sierra and I hiked up from Cascade Creek to the top of Engineer (12,297) which involved a bit of a scramble and some exposure that honestly had me concerned for Sierra's welfare. Of course, with her four legs, I probably was more a liability for her in trying to help her. The trail up to the base of the mountain has got to be one of my favorite trails I've done in Colorado so far. 4.5hrs car to car with right around 4,000 feet of gain.

West Coast Trail

My good friend Bryan and I hiked the world famous 'West Coast Trail' on Vancouver Island between Aug 3rd -6th. This trail is 75km long and is noted for the difficult conditions due to tides, slick rocks, slick tree roots. You are either going up, down, or around something almost 99% of the time. The trail is quite a different experience to any hikes I have previously done.

Rainier Emmons 1 day climb with Phil and Larry

Larry, Phil, and I took off from White River C.G. at 9pm on the 21st and arrived at the summit at 9hrs 40 minutes later. We saw the Northern lights that night, and a shooting star that exploded over Mt. Rainier, lighting up the snow with a bright light. Car to car, 15hrs,47 minutes. A long 1 day climb. My 10th route on Rainier as a one day climb, 25th summit.

Sierra and I went on a short hike to Parrott and Madden Peaks - approx 6 miles, 2000' of gain. The orange flagging tape on Sierra is to help protect against over possible zealous rifle elk hunters.

Lime Mesa-Dollar Lake-Mt. Kennedy-Aztec mtn

I took a hike up Lime Mesa and wandered around which is easy to do above treeline at around 12,000', climbing Mt. Kennedy (13,125'), and Aztec mtn. (13,310). I came down into Virginia Gulch and crossed back to the Lime Mesa trail, somewhere around a 20 mile loop.
