Safari Part III - Ngorongoro Crater

Remembering Normandy, 65 Years Later

For the 65th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, we made a family trip to Normandy that included Erin's grandfather, Carson Stauffer, a D-Day veteran. What a special trip this was! Thanks to Carson for so many, many things. We love ya. :)

For our third NYE trip together with the Goldblatts, we opted for beach... and we found it in Los Cabos. The vacay was cut a day short due to airline troubles, but we absolutely made the most of our time in Baja California. Prospero Año Nuevo!

Diamond on the Lake

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon (our last in Austin, sadly), the Diamond crew in Austin rented a party boat and had a grand ol' time on Lake Travis. Each of us brought food, drinks, snacks, and desserts, and the boat captain even did the grilling for us. Thanks to Kavita for organizing just a perfect day out with friends!

Trekking in Kathmandu

After four days in Delhi and Agra, we were ready for a change of pace. So we hopped on a Jet Airways flight (using AA miles, of course) to Kathmandu, where we found a totally different scene. The Buddhist influence gives the place a "zen" vibe, and the scenery was spectacular.

Flight to Mt. Everest

In picking Nepal for a vacation destination, there's one thing one simply *has* to do: see Mount Everest. So at the cost of $166 each, we booked two tickets on Buddah Air (yes, seriously that's their name) for a special "mountain flight" up to see Mt. Everest. That is, if we're lucky. During monsoon season, flights are often cancelled, and/or the clouds don't provide a good view of the mountains. How did it turn out? Take a look...

For our big summer vacation 2008, we opted for the other side of the world with a trip to India and Nepal. This album is from our days in New (and "old") Delhi with its majestic forts and tombs. India is certainly a land of extremes: rich and poor, majestic and simple, vibrant and dull. We soaked in all of it during a fascinating trip.

A Grand Weekend at the Canyon

With work taking Jeff back to Phoenix more often, Erin flew out for a long weekend, and together they made the 4-hour trip up to the Grand Canyon for sightseeing, hiking, and a heck of a workout on Bright Angel Trail.

Aspen for a New Year

A year in the making in more ways in than one, we rang in 2008 with the Goldblatts in the beautiful town of Aspen, Colorado. Planning began 12 months prior, when we scored 5 nights at the St. Regis for free using Starwood points, and two round-trip flights using United miles. That's how we like to do Aspen, dahling.
