The Gateway to India, opened 1924, built to commemorate the first ever visit by a British Monarch in 1911. This is where a lot of visitors start their visit to Mumbai, and is a spot to people watch, or in our case, to get watched by people.
We were a huge curiosity to these Muslim and Hindu women. As anyone who has visited India knows, this happens anywhere you go. You just have to get used to it.

The celebration of Ganesh's birthday is huge in Mumbai. These men, covered in pink tikka powder, were dancing in the street in celebration of the weeklong festival.
