If the girls knew they'd be spending 12 hours the next day in their carseats I bet they wouldn't have sat in them the day before!
Justin and his mad driving skills!
JM and his mad riding skills!
Erika with a fake smile, pretending that she likes to ride in the car!
A little trash a long the way!
Sleeping P's.
Erika starting to look a little more miserable.
All eyes on the road!
Open road!
Sleeping angel!
Gridlocked in B'ham.
The ambulance driver decided he'd drive down the middle of all the gridlock rather than use the "emergency lane".... we're still not sure why!
It took probably 10x as long for all the cars to creep out of his way.
Paige was all smiles after her yogurt!
This is what I did for 12 hours: Thank You Notes!
Birmingham
These type situations {following a truck of rubbish} made Erika about jump out of the car!
Next city: Nashville!
Me: smiling. Erika: about to die!
A little XM to keep us company... unfortunately the kids wanted videos so our listening was kept to a minimum!
Headed NORTH!
Paiger sitting pretty!
All smiles from the 4 legged passengers!
Chance & Nellie!
Full car shot. Erika made her way to the middle.
Paige likes to hold and rub my arms when I'm near her. Melts my heart into a puddle.

A quick stop at the DQ!
Oh look... an amish man is coming for a "Grill & Chill"
They don't use cars but I guess tractors are ok.
And wait what's he getting out of his trailer?
Oh, his wife!
And his kid!
Uncle Chance decided he'd squeeze in between the girls for the last 4 horus of the trip.... what a champion. And I some how made it to the FRONT SEAT! Wooo hoo!
Still headed North!
I really wanted to go to Paducah to hit up Hancocks of Paducah.... I'd be like a kid in a candy store in there! Mmmmmm!
And here we go over the Mighty Ohio River... almost to Indiana!
The Ohio River
The next morning at the beautiful FARM! Finally!
garden & fruit trees
Apples anyone!?
There is a "carriage house" above the garage and that's where we stayed with our 3 little ones. You'll see that my parents {in their ingeniuity} put a lovely little deck/balcony and stairs off of it. It's always one of my favorite spots to go straight from the bed to the balcony early in the morning.
I think my mom is "doping" her plants!
No, I'm almost certain there is some doping going on!
We had a lovely breakfast in the school house Saturday morning. Prepared by my Aunt Diana! It was delicious!
And the view was delightful too!
Aunt Diana & John Martin
Here's a good woman I know {aka: Mom}
Above ground pool.... love it. And if I lived there, I'd have one of these little gems too!
What better surroundings... soybeans and a swimming pool!
School house... once again in their ingeniuity they added a lovely patio off the back for hanging out and grilling!
Chance and the Mustang {and the birds!}
Erika, a DC, and a carseat... all getting ready for a Gator ride to the trash pile.
Paiger doing what it is that she does best!

Cousin George & John Martin
E & Cousie
Paige was all smiles at Mellow Mushroom on the way home! With her little Gloworm from Mimi!
Erika was doing better after a cold beer. Who could blame her with this crew and 9 hours down in the car.
JM chilled, rather sweated as we ate pizza & salads in Montgomery.
Chance was doing better after a cold beer and some sinus medicine.
It was HOT!
This is what the day after looked like in my house! Oh well... it was worth it.
