Working away at my Mario pumpkin. I printed off pictures of Mario and Hello Kitty's face, then taped the pages to the pumpkin. Then I took a pushpin and stabbed through the paper, tracing the lines. Then I took the paper off and used the screwdriver to make cuts along the dots I made, like connect the dots. (That's the point I'm at now.) Then I used the screwdriver like a chisel to scrape away the skin wherever there were no black lines on the drawings. It was a little hard.
While I scraped and fretted over the Mario/Kitty pumpkin, Katie was happily hacking away at her normal Jack o' Lantern.
She got a mouth.
This is what the jack o' lanterns looked like. (Am I supposed to capitalize that?) Katie put a nose on hers, but I think it's scarier without a nose.
With the lights on. You can see the picture of Mario I used there on the table under the knife.
Then Katie and Danielle roasted the pumpkin seeds.
Danielle liked to touch the pumpkin seeds.
Here's the Mario side of the pumpkin. It turned out fine, but I fucked up the front of his overalls a bit.
The Hello Kitty turned out well, too, but I accidentally took off a piece of her top right whisker, and a tiny bit out of her right eye. Her nose was what I was really worried about. Every time I scraped her face, I was afraid I was going to slip and hack off that nose.
I also didn't make the little circle around the M on his hat. It was too hard.
A half-lit shot of Kitty.
And Mario. The pumpkin got pretty gross inside after a week.
The inside of the pumpkin needed to be scraped a bit more, see how dark the right side of her face is?
The jack o' lanterns are in the bedroom window. The Mario/Kitty is in the video game room window, but I couldn't get a good picture from outside. I really need to learn how to operate the camera.
Halloween night. Haha. Cereal killer. Right. Funny. About the only redeeming quality of it is that it's Honey Bunches of Oats. And the mask made from the nutritional information. I'll do better next year.
Katie's super-awesome homemade Kitty mask.
That's just fantastic.
Look! A baby dressed as a flower! LOL
We went to a party at Chris and Jennifer's house. That's Jason in the background with Jennifer. Danielle mugging with Hello Katie in front.
The host, Chris, spearing the pitifully-underdressed Vinny.
Mike went as Indiana Jones. Danielle went as some sort of vampire whore.
Better angle. Man, Mike was hammered.
Danny, doing his best impression of me.
Danielle, Jennifer, Christina (I think that was her name), and Hello Katie.
The host and hostess. Jennifer made that costume herself. Like, sewed it. It had all these little fangs and shit sticking out of it. It was really incredible.
Yes, Danielle.
Hello Danny to the rescue!
Danielle and Hello Katie.
And Jennifer makes three!
Gah! Chris' brother came with a Joker mask. Apparently Katie put it on. Heavens.
Mike's son, little Mikey. He had been dressed as a monkey earlier in the evening.
Hello Adam. Sort of. I think I looked like Sora from Kingdom Hearts, when he's in Halloween Town? You know? Only it would be Sanrio Town. Shut up, Adam, shut up.
Mikey and Danielle. I thought her costume looked much cooler with the addition of the afro wig.
Me and the Red Ranger. I have no idea who this guy was, he left before I could properly introduce myself. And he never took the mask off.
Chris baked these hilarious little tombstone cupcakes.
Katie said they were delicious.
See? Doesn't that look cool? Danielle spent some time cracking Mike's Indiana Jones whip. She was very good at it.
Jennifer's dress had all this crinoline and padding, it was crazy.
Their bar was pretty sweet, too. Jennifer works in a costume store, apparently. The end!
