Aerials over the Alleghanies
These pictures taken with the inadequate camera on my Treo 650. I had to capture the images, even if it was with a marginal camera. You see, I was flying home to Flint, MI (FNT) in the Cessna 177 Cardinal. The evening was the most perfect VFR weather ever seen by me, ever. The FAA pre-flight briefer asked me "why are you calling me? It's beautiful. Go fly." I asked, "well, can I at least get the winds aloft from you, say at 3,6, and 9,000 ft.?" To which he replied, "well, let's start at 9,000 (note, they usually start at 3,000) where the winds are light and variable all along your route. Anything else?" Yes, it was the most beautiful night to fly, and I went direct across Lake Erie. At one point, peacefully over the middle of the lake without any traffic anywhere near me, I could simultaneously make out the lights of Erie, PA, Cleveland, OH, Detroit, MI, London, ON, and Toronto, ON. Yes, it was that clear.
