VG Saturday After the Storm
SEVERAL BRIDGES OF MEXICO'S HWY 1 ARE OUT! The only link to the North for all of Baja!
Two days after the big storm we have sun, and the high Sierra to the east is white with snow. Folks begin mopping up. We finally have radio, phone and internet connection, now and then. We walk everywhere to conserve our gasoline as all supplies at stations are gone. We see big semi-trucks parked all along the highway; drivers taking gas out of their tanks and putting it in the engines for the refrigerators. We see small airplanes throughout the day, usually a rare thing to see here. At the bridge folks gather to watch as emergency persons and supplies are basketed across the river. Friends living north of the river can finally call us to say that the little stores of that area are out of all basic foodstuffs.
