Abandoned mine's building in Huda Jama.
We built this chapel in memory to Slovenians, Croats and Germans who rest in the mine and in the vicinity and to those sent to unknown places. The authorities with the idea of class hatred that despised all God's and human laws took their lives in May and June 1945.
Mineshaft of Saint Barbara Pit where alive battalions were falling into and rotting in heaps in the depth of darkness.
Till now - 2nd June 2009 - I have learned this: 463 bodies found in the tunnel were shot in the head or slaughtered with mine matocks. The shaft - 3m x 3,5m x 38m - was full of bodies. The shaft contains approximately 5 000 bodies. The skulls are not broken. The victims were probably thrown to the shaft alive. Also bodies of young females -with preserved long black hair - were found. The other 2 shafts have not yet been checked.
Chapel in front of the Barbara Pit, built in 1997. * After finding the bodies of victims of communism in the pit our president Danilo Turk was silent. After 5 days he said (when asked by a journalist to comment the findings) : I will talk only about first rate themes (8th March - the women's holiday) I dont' want to talk about second rate themes.
A house near the Barbara Pit. People still live here. * But our president Danilo Turk feels emphaty for the victims of Srebrenica (he went there) and for the Palestininan victims of Israel's offensive. He went to Palestine in January, met Mahmud Abbas and expressed solidarity with Palestinian authorities and Palestinian people. And he summoned Palestinians to reconciliate. He didn't visit Israel.

Mad Pit 14. * Marko Baruca president of Mladi forum (Young Forum) of Social Democrats (from October 2008 Social Democrats are the ruling party in Slovenia) wrote: Mladi forum doesn't agree with the suggestion that Tito be withdrawn from public places. We consent to that only in case the same measures are used for all historic personalities. So we suggest that the name Pucnik (see who was Joze Pucnik in Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo%C5%BEe_Pu%C4%8Dnik) is removed from our airport and the name of pope John Paul II is removed from all namings.
Settlement Huda Jama close to Barbara Pit. I translated Huda Jama with Mad Pit. If ever the Latin phrase NOMEN EST OMEN was true it certainly is in this case. The name is fitting to the place perfectly.
The works in Huda Jama pit were stopped for indefinite time for safety reasons by the authorities.
