New Christmas crib blessed on first day of Children's Novena
A beautiful and artistic new Christmas crib has been the main attraction at St George’s basilica in the last few days. Early in November, the parish office had entrusted George Camilleri, a young member of our parish, with the task, which, as he himself admitted, was a first for him as well! The new crib was blessed on Tuesday, at the end of the first Novena Mass for children.
Since 1997, St George’s basilica owns a unique ceramic set of ninteen 30cm-tall statuettes made by G. Patti of Sciacca, Sicily. The set was donated to St George’s by Fr Charles Cini sdb, and for the last decade has been exhibited at Christmastide in different papier-mâché settings made by Frank Mizzi and George J.
