One really horrible kitchen
The frig goes where????
AHhhhh, nothing like demo in the morning, this revealed the kitchen had once been just a porch and there had been another window.
No yucky yellow kitchen cabinets, no leaking sink, and a lot of plaster down and hauled off
More plaster off and surprise, there was once another door in this space.
Bathroom is getting gutted too, all that is left is the john - a real necessity!
Floor joists below the kitchen floor. These have to be removed and replaced, a lot of dry rot was contributing to the bow in the kitchen floor. Unfortunately the prior owners used the crawl space under the kitchen as a garbage pit.
Most of the lath out, some of the new floor joists in, still looks like a really big mess.
Some new plumbing for the new kitchen, lots of stuff hauled out of the crawl space.
New subfloor! new wiring (remember - use a licensed electricial) and it's begining to look a lot like a house.
Tools of the trade, scaffolding is a huge time saver!
Old window gone, new cedar siding on and caulked
Insulation to keep everything and everyone nice and cozy in the Iowa winters.
Dry wall at last, don't look now Ronnie but I think the scaffolding is making rabbit ears behind your head :)
I do love power tools, just wish they would come a little smaller and a lot lighter.
Measuring for the next piece of drywall, guestimating doesn't get it in construction
Tape and MUD!! Doing the celebration dance behind the camera!
Ceiling drywall, tape and mudding, thank goodness for drywall jacks and scaffolding!
Wow, that is sure pretty!
Some under cabinet lighting goes in before the counters are installed.
Next project - upstairs bath!
Lots of space for just a sink and commode - let's add a shower and bathtub. It will make it more sellable and worth more.
New attic access opening, unfortunately it is only big enough for ME!
How do I get the new tub shower unit up these? To be determined!
New downstairs bath room, new vanity, one piece tub shower unit (love these - the only way they can leak is in the plumbing. Clean and sparkling - love it!
OOOHHHH and AHhhhh
Project Complete, approximate cost $12,000 - no labor was included in this figure. Dishwasher and new stove are in the $12,000!
One great partner to work with!
