Yellow-crowned Night Herons
For some strange reason, Yellow-crowned Night Herons choose the Virginia Pines in this small city park for their nest sites year after year. The park has no wetland, only a small creek with all of the traditional storm water runoff problems.

Swift Watch 2010
This was a community event to watch migrating swifts roost at a local chimney. This year, the watch was held by a small warehouse near Fourth and Chestnut Streets in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Blue Ridge Parkway
This outing covered the same area as the trip in July 2010, as we searched for fall warblers and other migrants. The butterflies and wildflowers were far more cooperative as photo subjects than the birds.
