Choral recital at Oriental Orthodox Festival. Stevenage

Oriental Orthodox festival was held at Coptic Orthodox Cathedral at Stevenage on 8 May with the concelebration of Holy Liturgy by H.G. Bishop Angaelos and H. E. Metropolitan Abba Seraphim with priests of the British, Coptic, Eritrean and Ethiopian Orthodox Churches, supported by many deacons of these churches. Due to prior commitments our bishop and priests were not able to participate in this colourful event. Never the less the choir and the faith full from the St.Gregorios Parish, London, overcome the absence of the Malankara clergymen. by singing the Malankara Orthodox communion hymn. The choir of St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, London, performed a medley of traditional religious songs ending with a lively folk song sending seismic waves.

The Holy Qurbana on this blessed day was conducted by H. G. Mor Timothios, the Diocesan Metropolitan. Following a very colourful procession within the church premises, intercessory prayers were held to the blessed St. Gregorios. his Grace delivered a very touching message.

Perunal Eve 2009

The Parumala Perunal 2009 was celebrated at The St. Gregorios IOC, Brockley, London on 31 Oct - 1 Nov 2009. On the saturday evening(31st), following the evening prayers led by H.G. mor Timothios, the Diocesan Metropolitan, Fr. John Samuel, the vicar of the parish delivered an inspirational message. This was followed by songs by the choir, a devotional semi classical dance and an exhuberant musical telling the tale of 'Jacob and Joseph'.

Diocesan General Body

The first Diocesan general body of the Diocese of UK, Europe and Africa gathered on July 3rd, the rememberence day of our patron saint, St. Thomas. H. G. Mor Timotheous, the diocesan bishop chaired the meeting at which the Diocesan Council was also elected.

H.G. Dr.Mathews Mar Thimotheos , Diocesan Bishop of UK , Europe and Africa has been elected as the chairman of the Council of Oriental Orthodox Churches in the UK. on June 2.2009. The tenure of the office would be for three years. The members and the office bearers of the council greeted and gladly received Thirumeni with great enthusiasm. Fr. Abraham Thomas, Vicar of St.Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church,London was working as the Secretary of the Council for past three years. . In the council meeting the President and the members gratefully appreciated the effort and contribution extended by outgoing secretary Rev.Fr.Abraham Thomas, during his tenure. The council offered their best wishes and prayers to him for fulfilling his future assignments.

Oriental Orthodox Festival 2008

The Oriental Orthodox Festival is the annual event when all the Oriental Orthodox Churches in the United Kingdom and Ireland join mainly in celebrating the Holy Eucharistic Service together. This year, HG. Dr. Yakub Mar Irenaios Metropolitan of our Church along with HG Bishop Angaelos of the Coptic Orthodox Church who is the President of the Council of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in the UK and Ireland and HG. Metropolitan Abba Seraphim of the British Orthodox Church led the Service on the 22nd of November, 2008. All the Oriental Orthodox Churches were represented by clergy men and faithful. The event reflected the diverse yet unique nature of the Orthodox Churches in Communion.

Interment of H G Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios - Part I

The first part of the funeral service lead by HG Geevarghese Mar Coorilos started at GMT1800 hrs on29/02/08. All the Oriental Orthodox Churches were present at the occasion represented by Bishops and clergy of the respective Churches. Bishop Angaelos of the Coptic Orthodox Church who is also the President of the Council of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in the UK and Ireland, Bishop Nathan of the Oriental Orthodox Church, Bishop Antonious of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Bishop Abba Seraphim of the British Orthodox Church and Bishop Christopher Chessun representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury were the esteemed dignitaries who attended the first part of the Funeral Services. The condolence letter from the archbishop of Canterbury HG Rowan Williams was read out on the occasion by the representative of the archbishop. In his letter he expressed his heartful sorrow to the members of the Indian Orthodox church ,who lost one of the great warriors of the tradition and dignity of
