Botanical Park - Ooty. Botanical gardens are a major tourist attraction for those who visit Ooty. They sprawl over 50-acres and lie on the lower slopes of Dodabetta peak,which is the highest point in Ooty. Marquis of Tweeddale established these gardens in the year 1848.

View from DoddaBetta - Heighest Peak in South India. Doddabetta is the highest peak (2,623 mts.) in the Nilgiris and offers beautiful vistas of the hill ranges,plateaus and plains around. It is 10-km from Ooty. There is a good motorable road to reach the peak.
Coonoor provides the traveller with the panoramic view of the lush green Nilgiri hills, with its ravines, valleys, and waterfalls.

Ooty or Udhagamandalam, the capital of Nilgiri district, is popularly known as the "Queen of hill stations' among the tourist circuits. Situated at a distance of 105 km away from Coimbatore, Ooty is a lovely place with lofty mountains, dense forest, sprawling grasslands and miles of tea gardens. Situated at an altitude of 2,240 m above sea level, Ooty is a land of picturesque picnic spots.
Coonoor is the first of the three hill stations of the Nilgiris. Situated at an altitude of 2000 ft and only 17kms from Udhagamandalam is the first of these hill stations. Coonor is not very commercialized and retains a certain amount of untouched charm. It is a small town with an equable climate that has made it popular as a hill resort in its own right. The main attraction is the Sim's Park, a small well maintained botanical garden that has several varieties of plants not to be found in other hill stations. Viewpoints and picnic spots around Coonoor include Lambs Rock, Lady Canning's Seat, Dolphin's Nose, St Catherine Falls, Law's Falls, Ralliah Dam and Droog.
Ooty Lake stretches, in an irregular 'L' shape, for about two kilometres in length and varrying distances in width. At the far end is the Boat House where all kinds of boats are available for hire from eight in the morning to six in the evening.

Bandipur Tiger Reserve situated in Mysore District of Karnataka State of India was among the first nine Tiger Reserves created in India at the launch of Project Tiger in 1973. It is contiguous to Madhumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu state to south and Wynad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala state to the south-west.To the north-west lies Nagarhole National Park. The highest peak is Gopalaswamy hill.
Sim’s Park is a 12-hectare park in Coonoor, which exhibits over 1000 species of plants. On the road opposite the Sim’s Park is the Pasteur Institute. It is renowned for its research in the study of rabies.

Ooty pronunciation (help·info), short for Ootacamund pronunciation (help·info) (the official name is Udhagamandalam, sometimes abbreviated to Udhagai , is a city, a municipality and the district capital of the Nilgiris district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Ootacamund is a popular hill station located in the Nilgiri Hills. The origin of the name Ootacamund is obscure, but "mund" is the Badaga word for a Toda village, and it is probably a corruption of the Badaga name for the central region of the Nilgiri Plateau.[
The Duchy of Kalhatty is a nature preserve as large as the principality of Monaco nestling in one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world -The Nilgiris- in South of the Indian subcontinent at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, where the climate is salubrious throughout the year.
The Kalhatty falls are located on the Kalhatty slopes at about 13-km from Udhagamandalam on the Udhagamandalam - Mysore Kalhatty ghat road. Also known as the "Kalahasti Falls", the water here cascades down a height of 122m.

Coonoor is on the toy-train line between Mettupalayam (28 km) and Ooty. A popular pastime isbirdwatching, as an extensive variety of birds can be spotted. The main attraction is the Sim's Park, a small well maintained botanical garden that has several varieties of plants. It is about 19kms to the south of Ooty and is accessible by both train and road.
