Beginning work on the new Belt Parkway over the bridge. For all the skies were dramatic, those slaty clouds were the only ones that let out a rumble, and they'd gone a bit to the north & were clearly past us before they did.
Heading for Ruffle Bar. You can kind of tell that the economy is still a bit on the rocks out here - beautiful day like this, there should be a dozen speeding motorboats in this picture, and crossing the channel should've been reminiscent of a Frogger game. There were actually only two or three, all anchored. We crossed the channel coming & going without a single pause. In one way it's nice, but in another way it's definitely depressing. Still, I bet the break from wakes & pollution is good for the marshes, and the birds were out in droves.
Dramatic Sky #1 - Joan with Seagull & what she referred to as "God Rays" & I like to call "Scenic Effects By Cecil B. DeMille".
Dramatic Sky #2, with special water-drop refraction effects. I meant to do that.
One of my favorites, shot as we entered the Ruffle Bar marsh. Thought for a bit this might turn into something but it just loomed.
Next few pix - just exploring in the marsh.

Sunset at the Paerdegat bridge
Joan spots a heron - there were two actually, one for each side of the boat channel.
a slightly better view. They don't seem to be phased by the construction.
