Paerdegat Proxigean Promenade -- plus last paddle of winter 2010-11, breezy Breezy Point
Last day of winter - I wanted an exercise paddle, I got an exercise paddle. Forecast for both days of the weekend had originally been pretty mild, 10 - 15 kts. I'd called for a 15-mile paddle out of the bay & back, working with the strong currents generated by the Supermoon. We ended up going to Breezy Point, which is only 14 round trip, but with the winds actually clocking in at gusting to 25, that was plenty. Sunday, there were Big Doin's at the club - a short paddle in the morning, then brunch, than an unusual event - a shorewalk right in the Paerdegat Basin! Low low water made it possible, and it was a lot of fun - there's been a lot of shoreline restoration, and I've seen it from a boat, but it was pretty neat seeing past the immediate shoreline.
