BROWN SCHOOL REUNION 2007 - These are photos that Judy Kuelper took at the Brown School reunion in Hooppole. was a teacher at Brown School in l947-48 and l948-49, and after a year of reconnecting with several former students, a few of us met last month by the renovated HY&T Museum/Depot for a mini-reunion and Museum tour, the latter arranged by Paul Hilger. It was an afternoon of reminiscing, and recalling nostalgic memories of our 1-room school days 60 years ago. Besides Paul, Bob Kuelper, Jack Kuelper, and Ray Meier came, along with several wives. Mike Shere drove up from Arkansas, and we had a good visit the previous day, before he headed back. Though I've had email contacts with the former Beverly and Lolabelle Hansen and Carol Hartweg, they couldn't attend. Does anyone have any old photos of Brown School as it looked back then? I need one for my photo album and scrapbook. Phyllis Kay Begens http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com
BROWN SCHOOL REUNION 2007 - These are photos that Judy Kuelper took at the Brown School reunion in HooppoleJul 4, 2006 11:30 AM - I was a teacher at Brown School for 2 years, 1947-48 and 1948-49. Last month, after 59 years I decided to check out Hooppole and try to locate the school, and asked directions from a man fixing a fence. He pointed a few yards down the road, and said, "I live in it." Turned out he was my old pupil, Robert Kuelper, and gave us a tour, showed an enlarged photo of 11 students, and updated me on many of them. When I got back to Florida, I found this website about the HY&T Railroad, the various messages, and spotted Mike Shere's name. I taught him and his sister Helga the first year they arrived in the US from Germany, so emailed him right away. He phoned this AM and plans to attend his family reunion on the 8th. Will send him photos after he returns. Phyllis Kay Begens
