Bear Hair Gap Trail

Went for a "spring" hike today to enjoy the 60 degree weather (at home). Turns out in the mountains it was 40 with lots of snow and ice on the ground and rocks. Still had fun and stayed warm enough. Only got scary coming down without our YakTrax or poles. Hikers we met coming down from Blood Mountain said the snow was knee deep up there. We were not prepared with our winter equipment to climb its summit. This was, after all, supposed to be a warm weather hike.

We drive south from Glacier along Flathead Lake to visit the National Bison Range on our way back to Helena for the flight home.

Glacier National Park - day 4

Our last day in Glacier had us attempting a hike up to Apgar Lookout in very hot sun, enjoying huckleberry ice cream in West Glacier, and driving out the Camas Road to hike the Huckleberry Nature trail. We end the day by driving out of the park on a gravel forest road along the North Fork of the Flathead River.

Glacier National Park - day 3

On this day we drove around the south end of the park to spend the day on the eastern side. We kayaked at Two Medicine, hiked at Cut Bank, then drove back over Logan Pass and saw more wildlife.

We hit some big landmarks today as we hike into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, drive across Hayden Valley where the bison roam, and see a storm come in over Yellowstone Lake.

We drove into the park the night before via West Thumb and over the Continental Divide. Then our first full day in the park we visited Old Faithful and the Middle Geyser Basin.
