Old Colliery Road - A celebration of the reclamation of public access.
Carrickmore Road, Ballycastle, was formerly known as Old Colliery Road. It's listed as a public road in a 1789 deed; it served as an accommodation road to the foot of Fair Head providing access to the former collieries and saltworks. The new property is on the site of a cottage formerly known as Old Salt Pans/Coalyard Cottage and sometimes mistakenly called Marconi's Cottage.
