the new addition to C'est la Vie's power systems. I plan to use the box on the left as a template for an airtight box that can be used to store the generator below decks.
The box to be used as a template did not have a bottom. I cut a bottom out of 1/2" plywood and added plywood bracing to the top edges.
then the box was used as a template to cut out sections of core material for the fiberglass box.
after taping the core sections to th box to ensure the proper fit, I numbered the sides of the box and corresponding core.
here are the labeled core sections laid out on the work bench
I used the core sections as templates to cut the cloth for the inside of the box.
using west systems epoxy, I laminated the fiberglass mat to the inside faces of the core.
with the crosspiece sanded down with 220 grit paper it is time to begin finishing the wood. I've saved up a few projects to finish at the same time.
This is after 4 coats of Bristol Finish. Eventually each side of the gallows will receive 8 coats and the top edge will have 16 coats.
