I've seen several indentations similar to this one around Perugia. Elly and I think that they're sconces for candles/lamps.
A cool connection between two buildings. Many like this around Perugia, but this one looked like a good shot.
Another of those symbols on a street sign.
A nice shot of Perugian roof tops. Hard to tell from this picture, but it is a really interesting and seemless blend of old and new architectures.
The next few pictures are a collage of rooftops. A better view of the old/new architectures.
Elly, rooftops, belltower.
Elly and rooftops. She had a lot more vigor at the beginning of the day.
She didn't realize I was taking a picture, but I think this one turned out really good.
Bellissima.
Branden Conley presents: Perugia!
Steeples. There were a lot of good shots from this location.
Old and new architectures. I guess I took a LOT of shots from this overlook.
Lots of tall, narrow alleys. I'm not sure why I snapped this shot in particular.
One of Elly's "Goodfeathers". These fatsos are everywhere, and they're not at ALL afraid of people.
Not sure what this is. It is hollow behind there. Maybe a vent? Pretty cool looking, though.
Another symbol on a street sign. I think I shot this elephant one first day, but I'm trying to catch 'em all.
Next few shots are a panorama/collage of the main plaza near our hotel.
More plaza
Plaza, plaza
Plaza...
Plazassimo!
Another Steampunk Manta Ray, plus my reflection. I can sort of understand ONE Steampunk Manta Ray, but I don't understand them as a trend. Weird. Can't tell at all, but this is the pastry shop where we had breakfast on Tuesday.
Pretty chapel doors, pretty wife.
Close-up of the priest dudes above the door. Party on, Priest Dudes!
A Griffin statue. Griffin is the symbol of Perugia. There is a specific bronze griffin on the other side of this building that is THE icon, but somehow I didn't get a shot of it. Next time I guess.
Creepy, anthropomorphic ice-cream cone! The other side of this poster features "High School Musical Guitar Popsicles", equally creepy.
Cute dog on stairs.
Close up of cute dog on stairs.
Car zooming down narrow street, plus Elly's head. What I was trying to show was this doctor guy hanging out in the pharmica doorway. You see this ALL OVER the place in Perugia. If a shop doesn't have people in it shopping, it inevitably has the shop clerk hanging out in the doorway.
They call them "smart cars", because if you were attempting to drive anything bigger it would be a "stupid car".
I love these tall, narrow views.
A lot of laundry on lines around Perugia.
This is the door to Elly's old apartment.
A cool intersection of vias.
Castle? Large tower, at any rate.
Bello Gato, trying to casually escape us.
The archway leading to this park was so well hidden it seemed kind of magical. Elly lookin pretty.
The cat decided he'd share his park with us, but he'd sit as far away as possible.
More cat.
Elly attempts to approach the kitty to provide some pets. Kitty wants none of it.
Slowly...
Too slowly for my tastes, I guess. Got bored and snapped a shot of these roses and a lamppost.
Kitty almost within reach, curious now.
Sniffing her hand...
But... he decides it isn't worth the risk.
Not all kitties are meant to be pet, I guess.
Elly standing tall.
At the top of this walk is a monestary of some kind.
Monastery archway.
Inside the monastery.
More inside the monastery. I waited here for like 5 minutes waiting for that sheet to flap cinematically in the wind. Every time I set up the shot it wouldn't do more than ruffle. Oh well.
Coming back down the hill from Elly's neighborhood. I think we're making a beeline for lunch at this point.
These Italian stop signs are hilarious. I think this specifically means "STOP! DANGER!"
I snapped this photo because of all the pretty flowers. Elly discovers that we're actually just below her old back yard.
Elly's old back yard is just on the other side of this fence.
On the LAST DAY of her stay in Perugia Elly found this awesome nature walk. The whole place wound up being too narrow to get any good pictures, but it was really pretty.
Elly from the nature walk entrance. She wasn't ready for me to snap the picture, but I'm keeping this one because she looks so serene.
Elly being cute.
*smooch*
Nature walk view of Perugia.
More nature walk view of Perugia.
Yet more nature walk view of Perugia. Why no nature views?
This was an impressively large wall of ivy, with Perugia in the background.
Perugia's "etruscan arch". See people for scale. This thing is MASSIVE. Walking through this arch will take you back toward our hotel.
Steps descending to "la mangiar bene" for "pausa".
That little door at the bottom of the steps is "la mangiar bene". At this point you can start distinguishing mangiar's aromas from the ambient LUNCH smell.
*mouth watering*
Photo from our table inside "la mangair bene". Beautiful ceilings.
More of "la mangair"
At one point during lunch this old windbag started giving a VERY long speach. Apparently all these people are British and on an art tour.
Elly and her lunch. Pepper-cream rigatoni. Nom nom.
The Dining Philosophers had it good, I tell you. Too bad about their eating problem.
One of the few pictures of me from today. HONGRY.
Long steps back to the main plaza. Whew!
Elly is all tuckered out and ready for a "pausa" nap.
