Fusion Farms RegenAG Keyline Farming workshop at Taranaki Farm

Fusion Farms staged it's second Keyline Farming workshop at Taranaki Farm (October 11-13 2010). Darren J. Doherty trained 55 farmers in Keyline Farm methods including water harvesting, whole farm planning and rapid top soil building. During the workshop, we demonstrated the 3rd version of the Keyline 'Superplow' this time put together by Taranaki Farm intern, Ned RocknRoll. This version sports separate tanks for compost tea injection and biofertiliser spraying along with the usually seedbox for shotgun seed mixes and pasture cropping. Students spend a considerable time on pasture walks exploring the keyline systems installed on Taranaki Farm. We were also blessed with a lot of rain during the workshop so these water harvesting and water reticulation strategies were in full effect for students to understand the dynamics of Keyline.

Fusion Farms RegenAG Biofertile Farms with Eugenio Gras & Paul Taylor

Eugenio Gras (Mexico) and Paul Taylor (Australia) visit Taranaki Farm in Central Victoria for the RegenAG Biofertile Farms workshop (13th-15th September 2010). Over 60 farmers and land managers converged on the farm for three days of intensive training in the techniques of preparing bio-fertilisers and compost teas with on-farm materials. Attendees were divided into two groups with Paul and Eugenio delivering solid practical information in reducing input costs and boosting farm fertility. An unforgettable few days enjoyed by all.

Fusion Farms RegenAG Holistic Management with Kirk Gadzia

World respected Holistic Management trainer, Kirk Gadzia visits Taranaki Farm in Central Victoria for the inaugural RegenAG workshop in August 2010. Over 60 farmers took part in this inspiring 3 day workshop taught by Kirk Gadzia with support from the very experienced local HM trainer Graeme Hand.

Fusion Farms Compost Tea Workshop May 2010

Paul Taylor spent three days at Taranaki Farm teaching his three day Compost & Compost Tea workshop to 45 enthusiastic students. Travelling from near and far these students enjoyed the workshop immensely as Paul 'demystified the complex science of soil biology' while introducing everyone to the power of compost tea. Capping of the workshop we demonstrated the Keyline 'Superplow' developed by Ben Falloon and Darren Doherty; the famous keyline plow modification that now rips, seeds and injects compost tea directly into pasture roots systems all in a single pass. Spontaneous applause followed the demo after which we took a stroll around the keyline systems on Taranaki Farm. A fantastic workshop and thanks to everyone who came along.

Fusion Farms Keyline Workshop April 2010

Scheltus @ Spring Hill

Ben & Patricia Scheltus asked me to help design and develop their new family farm at Spring Hill, Central Victoria. The earthworks phase of the project is now complete. This included a house site excavation, upgraded dam, over 700 meters of road, a catchment drain and level sill overflow. Following this, remedial work will begin on the damaged landscape, employing the keyline plow for various jobs including soil renovation and tree site preparation.
