The different color and over sized cap stone and curvature of this wall give the corner of the house a nice depth that it didn't have previously.
This is my favorite set of walls that I have designed and built. The top curved wall and the bottom tiered wing wall were originally railroad ties. Also the existing stucco wing wall is topped with cap stones and originally had brick that matched the house. To ease maintenance I added the small bed in the middle as it was previously a grass area and hard to mow.
Backyard with railroad ties.
Removed railroad ties and replaced with "catalina wall", "texas sienna" color stone with virginia coal capstones.
Facing northeast i removed the brick from the wing walls replaced with capstone. Also replaced railroad ties on wing wall with stone. The bed that has the "knockout" roses in it was grass before and a pain to mow so i took out the grass and added another decorative wall to hold a new flower bed.
"Belgard" brand pavers with "Maytrx" retaining walls. The pavers are arranged in an "I" pattern and finished with "Techniseal" polymeric sand in the joints.
At this job we removed the existing railroad ties and replaced with "Matryx" in the "Buff" color. As you can see in the next pictures we added a small set of steps and a ring around the tree.

East side of Elvins house with Railroad ties and trees. I removed the ties and trees and built new beds with manufactured stone.
Here we see the new beds with stone retaining walls and no capstone. I havent done any backfill yet. This is a product called "Catalina Wall" in the "Texas Sienna" color.
With RR ties.
With new stone.
Steps made from wall stones capped off and cut to fit with capstones came out very nice.
East side looking up from back yard.
This is a small wall that I missed a before pic on. I replaced it with this and did some plants and mulch.
Natural Flagstone path
I did this brick path to match the path to the hot tub and we finished it up with river rock all around.
Different view. I had to cut each brick along the edge to make it fit the curve. Very time consuming.
This is a flagstone patio that we did with a limestone wall behind and a bench that was made from limestone too i think. We finished up after this with filling the joints with polymeric sand by "Techniseal"
We set a base of AB3 rock first and then filled with approximately 1 inch of sand and set the flagstones for the path before filling in the cracks with a product called Techniseal that hardens after being wet.
Walkway before.
Walkway after
Patio as we dug to virgin earth before we set our base.
Patio has been set and "Diamond edge" plastic edging used on the edge we built dirt up to level it all out.
We piece in all around edge.
Cutting around the sidewalk was tough.
I would like to do this in the future instead of cutting to fit the edging. Now they will remove the excess stone and place bricks as edging around it. They made the cut with a big chainsaw type of concrete cutter.
I added a wingwall to this new home with Rockwood Classic Retaining wall stones 8 inch beveled, Buff color.
